Position: Senior Social Worker
Team: Localities (Assessment, CIN & CP)
Contract: Locum, full-time
Hours: 37 hours per week
Pay Rate: Up to £35 per hour
Location: Wakefield Council Offices
Start Date: ASAP
Working Pattern: Hybrid – office and home working

Sheldon Phillips are working in partnership with Wakefield Council to recruit an experienced Social Worker to join their Localities Team. This is a varied role that will give you the opportunity to work across Assessment, Child in Need, and Child Protection cases, supporting families to make positive and sustainable changes.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Undertake assessments under the Children Act 1989

• Manage Child in Need and Child Protection cases to safeguard children effectively

• Carry out Section 47 enquiries and support families through intervention plans

• Prepare reports for Child Protection Conferences and court proceedings

• Develop care plans that meet the needs of children and families

• Work collaboratively with other professionals and agencies to ensure positive outcomes

• Maintain accurate case recordings and meet statutory timescales

Requirements:

• SWE Registration

• Qualified Social Worker (DipSW, CQSW, BA Hons, MA Social Work)

• Post-qualified experience in assessment, CIN, and CP work

• Strong safeguarding knowledge and risk assessment skills

• Experience of multi-agency working and court involvement

• Resilient, proactive, and able to manage a varied caseload
