Position: Senior Social Worker
Team: Localities (Assessment, CIN & CP)
Contract: Locum, full-time
Hours: 37 hours per week
Pay Rate: Up to £35 per hour
Location: Wakefield Council Offices
Start Date: ASAP
Working Pattern: Hybrid – office and home working

Sheldon Phillips are working in partnership with Wakefield Council to recruit an experienced Social Worker to join their Localities Team. This is a varied role that will give you the opportunity to work across Assessment, Child in Need, and Child Protection cases, supporting families to make positive and sustainable changes.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Undertake assessments under the Children Act 1989
Manage Child in Need and Child Protection cases to safeguard children effectively
Carry out Section 47 enquiries and support families through intervention plans
Prepare reports for Child Protection Conferences and court proceedings
Develop care plans that meet the needs of children and families
Work collaboratively with other professionals and agencies to ensure positive outcomes
Maintain accurate case recordings and meet statutory timescales
Requirements:
SWE Registration
Qualified Social Worker (DipSW, CQSW, BA Hons, MA Social Work)
Post-qualified experience in assessment, CIN, and CP work
Strong safeguarding knowledge and risk assessment skills
Experience of multi-agency working and court involvement
Resilient, proactive, and able to manage a varied caseload
