The Royal Borough of Greenwich is seeking an experienced Senior Social Worker / Approved Mental Health Professional (AMHP) to join its Health and Adult Services on a locum basis.
This role is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the borough’s commitment to high-quality mental health services. You will undertake statutory AMHP duties under the Mental Health Act 1983 (as amended), complete assessments, coordinate care and discharge planning, and work collaboratively with service users, carers, and partner agencies to promote recovery and wellbeing.
You’ll be joining a supportive and forward-thinking team dedicated to delivering compassionate, person-centred mental health care.
With hybrid working (3 days in the office and 2 from home), this post offers a great balance between flexibility and team engagement.
Greenwich operates a Strengths-Based Practice Model, focusing on enabling individuals to build on their own abilities, networks, and resources to live independently and safely. This approach is embedded across the Health and Adult Services teams and supports genuinely person-centred interventions.
All case management is completed using Mosaic, ensuring effective information sharing and streamlined practice across multi-agency teams.
The Royal Borough of Greenwich is a vibrant and historic area of South East London, known for its maritime heritage, stunning riverside views, and cultural landmarks such as Greenwich Park, the Royal Observatory, and the Cutty Sark.
With excellent transport links into Central London and the Docklands, Greenwich combines rich history with a modern, community-focused atmosphere. The borough is dedicated to delivering innovative, inclusive, and high-quality social care services — making it a fantastic place to both work and live.
