Senior Social Worker – Children with Disabilities (CWD)
Bracknell Forest Council

Pay Rate: £46 per hour
Hours: 37 hours per week
Contract: Locum

About the Role

Bracknell Forest Council is looking for an experienced Senior Social Worker to join their Children with Disabilities (CWD) Team. This is a specialist role focused on supporting children and young people with complex needs, ensuring they receive the right services, support, and safeguarding interventions.

You’ll manage a varied caseload, undertake robust assessments, and work closely with families and multi-agency partners to promote independence, stability, and positive outcomes. As a Senior Social Worker, you’ll also contribute to team development, best practice, and high-quality service delivery.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out assessments, reviews, and plans for children and young people with disabilities.
  • Lead on complex cases, including safeguarding, CIN, and CP work where needed.
  • Work closely with health, education, short-break providers, and residential placements.
  • Ensure personalised care and support plans reflect each child’s needs and aspirations.
  • Advocate for children and families to ensure access to services and support.
  • Provide guidance and professional support to social workers within the team.
  • Prepare clear, analytical reports for a range of statutory purposes.

Practice Model Used

Bracknell Forest works under the Family Safeguarding Model, a strengths-based, multi-disciplinary approach that focuses on improving outcomes for children by supporting the whole family. It brings adult specialists (mental health, substance misuse, domestic abuse) directly into Children’s Services teams, allowing more holistic and effective interventions.

This model encourages reflective practice, collaborative working, and building strong relationships with families — all essential within CWD work.
