Barnet | Locum | £38.50 per hour | Hybrid Working

Barnet Council is seeking an experienced Social Worker or Senior Social Worker to join their Duty & Assessment Team. This is a fast-paced frontline role focused on responding to referrals, completing timely assessments, and ensuring children and families receive the right support at the earliest stage.

You will work within a dynamic service, managing a varied caseload and undertaking high-quality assessments to safeguard children and promote positive outcomes.

In this role, you will:

  • Respond to referrals and undertake Child and Family Assessments
  • Carry out Section 47 enquiries and risk assessments
  • Manage a varied caseload within a duty and assessment setting
  • Make timely decisions in line with statutory guidance and thresholds
  • Work closely with multi-agency partners including police, health, and education
  • Prepare high-quality reports and maintain accurate case recordings
  • Support and mentor less experienced colleagues (Senior level)

What You’ll Need:

  • Social Work England Registration
  • Social Work Qualification
  • At least 3 years’ post-qualified experience in children’s social care
  • Strong experience within Duty & Assessment or Front Door services
  • Confidence managing risk and making timely decisions
  • Excellent assessment, analytical, and communication skills
