Social Worker

Team: Localities
Contract: Locum – 37 hours per week
Pay Rate: Up to £35 per hour
Location: Wakefield Council

Sheldon Phillips are working with Wakefield Council to recruit a Social Worker to join their Localities Team. This is a key role in delivering high-quality social work practice, supporting children and families, and working within a strong framework of safeguarding and multi-agency collaboration.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Manage a caseload of Child in Need and Child Protection cases.

• Undertake assessments, including Section 17 and Section 47 enquiries.

• Develop and implement effective care plans to safeguard children.

• Work in partnership with families and professionals to achieve positive outcomes.

• Prepare clear and evidence-based reports for Child Protection Conferences and court.

• Maintain high standards of recording and case management.

• Contribute to team discussions, reflective practice, and service development.

Requirements:

• SWE Registration.

• Recognised Social Work qualification.

• Post-qualified experience within a Localities, Child Protection, or Safeguarding team.

• Strong knowledge of safeguarding legislation and statutory guidance.

• Ability to manage a varied caseload and work effectively under pressure.

• Excellent communication and partnership working skills.
