Position: Social Worker
Team: Assessment – North Locality
Contract: Agency – 3 Months+
Hours: 37 hours per week
Pay Rate: £35 per hour (Umbrella)
Location: Adwick Leisure Centre, DN6 7QF
Start Date: ASAP
Working Pattern: Monday–Friday, hybrid working available

Sheldon Phillips are working with Doncaster City Council to recruit an experienced Social Worker for their North Locality Assessment Team. This is a fast-paced frontline role where you’ll play a key part in safeguarding children and assessing risk at the point of referral. You’ll be joining a well-organised team that values strong communication, timely decision-making, and reflective supervision.

Office base at Adwick Leisure Centre with hybrid working available
Supportive management and regular reflective supervision
Structured workflow and clear thresholds
Opportunities for training and progression
3-month+ contract with likelihood of extension
Duties and Responsibilities:
Undertake child and family assessments following referrals
Work within statutory timescales to assess risk and implement safeguarding plans
Liaise with schools, health professionals and partner agencies
Participate in strategy discussions and child protection conferences
Prepare reports for legal proceedings when required
Maintain clear, evidence-based case recording in line with best practice
Requirements:
Social Work qualification and SWE registration
Experience within a frontline children’s team, preferably assessment
Skilled in risk analysis, safety planning, and multi-agency working
Knowledge of current legislation and statutory guidance
Confident, reflective practitioner with strong report-writing skills
