Social Worker – Assessment Team (North Locality) | Doncaster City Council

Position: Social Worker
Team: Assessment – North Locality
Contract: Agency – 3 Months+
Hours: 37 hours per week
Pay Rate: £35 per hour (Umbrella)
Location: Adwick Leisure Centre, DN6 7QF
Start Date: ASAP
Working Pattern: Monday–Friday, hybrid working available

Sheldon Phillips are working with Doncaster City Council to recruit an experienced Social Worker for their North Locality Assessment Team. This is a fast-paced frontline role where you’ll play a key part in safeguarding children and assessing risk at the point of referral. You’ll be joining a well-organised team that values strong communication, timely decision-making, and reflective supervision.
 

What You Can Expect:

  • 3-month+ contract with likelihood of extension
     

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Undertake child and family assessments following referrals

  • Work within statutory timescales to assess risk and implement safeguarding plans

  • Liaise with schools, health professionals and partner agencies

  • Participate in strategy discussions and child protection conferences

  • Prepare reports for legal proceedings when required

  • Maintain clear, evidence-based case recording in line with best practice
     

Requirements:

  • Social Work qualification and SWE registration

  • Experience within a frontline children’s team, preferably assessment

  • Skilled in risk analysis, safety planning, and multi-agency working

  • Knowledge of current legislation and statutory guidance

  • Confident, reflective practitioner with strong report-writing skills
