Sheldon Phillips is seeking an experienced Social Worker to join the Children’s Safeguarding Team (Child Protection and CIN) in Chichester, West Sussex, on a locum basis. This is a hybrid role offering flexibility while working within a supportive safeguarding team.

The Safeguarding team in West Sussex is a frontline service responding to assessments made by Children’s Social Services. The team focuses on safeguarding children and ensuring their wellbeing through timely, child-centred interventions.

Key Responsibilities:

• Carry a caseload of children and families, managing assessments and implementing child protection or child in need plans.

• Undertake direct work with children and families to promote safety and positive change.

• Prepare high-quality reports for child protection conferences, reviews, and court proceedings.

• Engage in multi-agency working with health, education, and other partners to secure the best outcomes.

• Contribute to reflective practice and ongoing service improvement.

Requirements:

• Qualified Social Worker with Social Work England registration.

• Experience in statutory children’s social work, particularly in safeguarding.

• Strong working knowledge of the Children Act 1989 and related legislation.

• Excellent assessment, report-writing, and risk management skills.

• Enhanced DBS check and full right to work in the UK.
