About the Role
Bedford Borough Council is seeking an experienced Social Worker to join its Child Protection service on a locum basis. You will work with children and families to ensure safety, stability, and improved outcomes through clear planning, strong assessment skills, and effective multi-agency working.

You will manage a complex caseload, complete Section 47 enquiries, undertake Child and Family Assessments, progress Child Protection Plans, and support families through robust, relationship-based practice.

Key Responsibilities

• Undertake assessments, Section 47 enquiries, and child protection investigations
• Develop outcome-focused Child Protection and Child in Need Plans
• Carry out direct work with children and gain their voice in all planning
• Work closely with schools, health partners, and other agencies
• Prepare high-quality reports for conference, court, and statutory reviews
• Maintain accurate case records and meet statutory timescales
• Participate in supervision and contribute to a learning culture
