Social Worker – Child Protection Team

Pay Rate: £32.93 per hour
Hours: 37 hours per week
Contract: Locum

About the Role

Gloucestershire County Council is seeking an experienced Social Worker to join its Child Protection Team on a locum basis. This is a frontline safeguarding role focused on protecting children at risk and supporting families through structured, relationship-based intervention.

You will manage Child Protection cases, complete statutory assessments, and contribute to effective planning and decision-making that prioritises children’s safety and wellbeing.

Key Responsibilities

  • Undertake Section 47 enquiries and Child & Family Assessments
  • Manage Child Protection plans and statutory visits
  • Carry out direct work with children and families
  • Prepare high-quality reports for conferences and legal processes
  • Work collaboratively with health, education, police, and other agencies
  • Maintain accurate, timely case recording
  • Participate in reflective supervision and team learning
