Team: MASH (Multi-Agency Safeguarding Hub)
Contract: Locum - 37 hours per week (rolling rota including evenings, nights, weekends, and on-call)
Pay Rate: Up to £33.30 per hour
Location: Wolverhampton City Council
Sheldon Phillips are working with Wolverhampton Council to recruit an experienced Social Worker to join their busy MASH service. This is a varied and fast-paced role, supporting both children’s and adults’ services, with a particular focus on safeguarding and responding to urgent concerns. The team works collaboratively with key partner agencies to ensure that children, young people, and vulnerable adults are safeguarded effectively and receive timely, appropriate interventions.
Work within a busy MASH team on a 6-week rolling rota, covering day, evening, and night shifts, including on-call responsibilities.
Collaborative, multi-agency working with colleagues across Wolverhampton.
Opportunities to use your expertise in both children’s and adult safeguarding.
A structured and supportive environment with clear statutory frameworks.
Act as a point of contact for agencies, managing referrals and offering signposting.
Undertake urgent child protection investigations and adult safeguarding inquiries out of hours.
Assess risk and protective factors within both child and adult protection frameworks.
Ensure the voice of the child/young person is central to assessments and decision-making.
Provide clear, concise, and analytical written and verbal reports.
Apply legislation, policy, and statutory guidance in day-to-day practice.
Work closely with parents and families to build a holistic picture of needs and risks.
Maintain accurate, well-organised, and up-to-date case records.
SWE Registration.
Social Work qualification.
Post-qualified experience in safeguarding, child protection, or MASH.
Knowledge of relevant legislation, including the Children Act 1989/2004 and Working Together to Safeguard Children.
Experience of working on-call, or in fast-paced safeguarding environments.
Ability to work flexibly across a rolling rota.
