Position: Social Worker
Team: MASH
Contract: Locum, 3 months +
Hours: 37 hours per week
Pay Rate: £33.30 per hour
Location: Sandwell
Working Pattern: Hybrid (office-based duty days depending on rota)

 

Sheldon Phillips are working with Sandwell Children’s Trust to recruit an experienced Social Worker for their Multi-Agency Safeguarding Hub (MASH). This is a fast-paced team handling all incoming safeguarding contacts and referrals for children across the borough. The role is well suited to workers who thrive in an analytical environment with strong partnership links and a clear process-driven structure. Sandwell offers a supportive management team, regular consultation, and a stable workforce.

• Multi-agency working with Police, Health, Education, and partner services

• A structured, fast-paced environment focusing on decision-making and thresholds

• Strong management oversight and clear escalation pathways

• Hybrid working, with office days linked to duty requirements

• Regular reflective discussions and support from Senior Practitioners

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Screening and gathering information on all new safeguarding contacts

• Analysing risk and formulating evidence-based decisions on next steps

• Liaising with partner agencies for timely information sharing

• Completing MASH RAG ratings and progressing cases to Assessment, Early Help or NFA

• Ensuring clear, accurate and timely recording on the case management system

• Presenting information clearly for strategy meetings when required

Requirements:

• SWE Registration

• Social Work qualification

• Strong post-qualified experience within MASH or frontline safeguarding

• Confident in analysing risk and applying statutory thresholds

• Excellent multi-agency working and communication skills

• Ability to work effectively in a high-volume, decision-focused service
