Doncaster City Council is looking for an experienced MASH Social Worker to join a busy front-door service where good decision-making, strong risk analysis, and confident multi-agency working are essential. This is a fast-paced role that suits someone who can screen contacts, share information appropriately, and make clear recommendations to keep children safe.
You’ll be working within the Multi-Agency Safeguarding Hub (MASH), supporting timely, proportionate responses to incoming contacts and safeguarding concerns. You’ll help ensure children and families receive the right help at the right time — whether that’s early support, statutory assessment, or immediate safeguarding intervention.
Screen and analyse referrals/contacts to determine risk, threshold, and next steps
Undertake robust information gathering and multi-agency checks (police, health, education, etc.)
Make timely, defensible decisions and recommendations, clearly recording rationale
Support safeguarding responses where risk is identified, including escalation when needed
Liaise with partner agencies to coordinate swift and appropriate actions
Contribute to strategy discussions and support progression to statutory services as required
Maintain accurate, high-quality case notes in line with policy and statutory guidance
Work at pace while keeping children’s lived experience central to decision-making
This role sits at the “front door” of children’s services, where strong professional curiosity, risk-informed analysis, and effective information sharing are key. You’ll work closely with partner agencies to identify risk early, apply thresholds consistently, and ensure children are safeguarded through timely, coordinated actions.
Social Work degree (or equivalent) and registration with Social Work England
Recent experience in MASH / Duty / Front Door (or comparable high-volume safeguarding setting)
Strong knowledge of thresholds, safeguarding, and multi-agency decision-making
Confident recording, analysis, and communication skills
Able to work primarily office-based at Colonnades House
Competitive rate of £35 per hour
High-impact role in a key safeguarding service
Strong multi-agency environment and collaborative working
Clear base location: Colonnades House, Doncaster
