Sheldon Phillips is currently partnering with Brighter Futures for Children to recruit a Locum Safeguarding Social Worker to join the Together for Families service at Reading Borough Council. This is an exciting opportunity to take on meaningful safeguarding work in a well-supported, stable, and high-performing team.

The Role

You will work within a statutory safeguarding team managing a caseload of children and families where there are concerns around safety and wellbeing. You will:

• Undertake assessments and develop effective care and protection plans

• Attend and contribute to child protection conferences, core groups and court proceedings

• Work closely with partner agencies to deliver positive, sustainable outcomes

• Ensure children’s voices are heard and reflected in all decisions and planning

• Receive support from a knowledgeable management team with a strong emphasis on reflective supervision and staff wellbeing

Requirements

• Qualified Social Worker (DipSW, BA, MA or equivalent)

• Registered with Social Work England

• Minimum 3 years of experience in safeguarding/child protection

• Strong assessment, risk management and report writing skills

• Available to start promptly and commit to a full-time locum post
