Social Worker – Safeguarding Team
(London Borough of Brent)
Pay Rate: Up to £39.04 per hour
Hours: 36 hours per week, hybrid working (3 days office-based)
Contract: Locum
The London Borough of Brent is seeking an experienced Social Worker to join its Safeguarding Team on a locum basis. This is an exciting opportunity to make a real difference by supporting children and families at risk, ensuring they receive timely interventions and effective protection.
You’ll manage a caseload of children in need and child protection cases, undertaking assessments, developing care plans, and working closely with families and professionals to promote safety and stability. The team benefits from strong leadership, regular reflective supervision, and a collaborative culture that encourages professional growth and innovation.
With hybrid working (3 days in the office and 2 from home), this role offers a great balance between flexibility and teamwork.
Brent Council practices under the Signs of Safety model — a relationship-based and strengths-focused framework that empowers families to identify their own solutions while ensuring children remain safe. This approach is deeply embedded across the service, promoting consistent, transparent, and effective practice.
All recording is completed on Mosaic, supporting efficient workflows and joined-up multi-agency collaboration.
Located in North West London, Brent is one of the city’s most dynamic and diverse boroughs — home to iconic landmarks such as Wembley Stadium, Boxpark Wembley, and the SSE Arena. The borough combines cultural vibrancy with green, peaceful neighbourhoods like Queens Park and Dollis Hill, making it a great place to live, work, and relax.
Brent is known for its forward-thinking approach to social work, its strong community values, and its ongoing investment in both children’s services and staff wellbeing. It’s an excellent environment for experienced practitioners who want to make a tangible difference.
