Bracknell Forest Council

Pay Rate: £42 per hour
Hours: 37 hours per week
Contract: Locum

About the Role

Bracknell Forest Council is looking for an experienced Social Worker to join its Safeguarding Team. This is a frontline role working with children and families where risk is identified, requiring strong assessment skills, confident decision-making, and high-quality direct work.

You will manage Child in Need and Child Protection cases, complete assessments, and work closely with partner agencies to ensure children are safeguarded and supported effectively.

Key Responsibilities

  • Complete Child & Family Assessments and safeguarding enquiries.
  • Manage CIN and Child Protection cases in line with statutory requirements.
  • Develop and review clear, outcome-focused plans to promote safety and stability.
  • Undertake direct work with children and families, ensuring the child’s voice is central.
  • Work collaboratively with multi-agency partners including health, education, and police.
  • Prepare high-quality reports for conferences, reviews, and legal processes.
  • Maintain accurate and timely case recording.

Practice Model Used by Bracknell

Bracknell Forest operates the Family Safeguarding Model, a nationally recognised, strengths-based approach that integrates adult specialists (domestic abuse, mental health, substance misuse) directly into children’s social care teams. This model promotes whole-family working, reflective practice, and effective multi-agency collaboration to reduce risk and improve outcomes.

Why Bracknell Is a Great Place to Live and Work

Bracknell is a highly desirable area offering a strong work-life balance:

  • Excellent transport links to London, Reading, and the M3/M4 corridors.
  • Extensive green spaces including Swinley Forest and surrounding countryside.
  • A regenerated town centre with shops, restaurants, leisure facilities, and amenities.
  • Safe, family-friendly communities with good schools.
  • A stable, well-regarded local authority with a strong focus on supporting social workers and promoting good practice.
