Team: Social Work with Families (SWwF)
Pay: £39.04 per hour
Contract: Full Time Locum (36 hours per week)
In the office: 3 days per week in the office

Croydon Council is seeking a driven and skilled Senior Social Worker to join their Social Work with Families team. You’ll be working in a dynamic environment where professional development, clear leadership, and best practice are at the heart of what we do.

Croydon operates under a Systemic Practice model, emphasising relationship-based work, collaboration with families, networks and partners, reflective supervision, and a deep commitment to using evidence-based intervention approaches. 

Key Responsibilities:

• Hold a caseload that includes Child Protection (CP) and Child in Need (CiN) cases, ensuring timely assessment, planning, and intervention.
• Conduct statutory visits, risk assessments and safety planning in line with Croydon’s thresholds and policies.
• Lead direct work with children, parents/carers ensuring engagement, involvement, and positive outcomes.
• Produce high quality reports for conferences, court proceedings, CiN reviews, and other review forums.
• Work closely with partner agencies (health, education, youth services etc.) to ensure coordinated family support.
• Provide leadership, advice or mentoring to more junior practitioners; contribute to team discussions, reflective practice sessions.
• Maintain accurate, up-to-date case records and ensure compliance with all legislative and regulatory requirements.

What you’ll need:

• Social Work England Registration
• Recognised Social Work Qualification
• Substantial experience in Children’s Services, specifically in Child Protection and Child in Need work
• Strong knowledge of relevant legislation, guidance, assessment tools
• Right to Work in the UK
