Pay Rate: £41.42 per hour
Location: Lifford House, Birmingham
Working Pattern: Hybrid – minimum two days per week in the office

Sheldon Phillips are working with Birmingham Children’s Trust to recruit a Peripatetic Team Manager for their Children in Care Service. This role provides flexible, high-level management support across multiple CiC teams rather than holding responsibility for one fixed team. It is ideal for an experienced leader who is confident stepping into different service areas, stabilising caseloads, supporting existing managers, and driving consistent, high-quality practice across the service.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Providing flexible management oversight across several Children in Care teams, depending on service need
Offering stability, coaching, and leadership during periods of team pressure, vacancy, or transition
Ensuring statutory CiC duties are met, including care planning, pathway planning, and permanency oversight
Monitoring caseloads, risk, and decision-making across different teams
Delivering reflective supervision, performance monitoring, and quality assurance activities
Supporting practitioners to progress plans, maintain strong recording, and meet statutory timescales
Chairing meetings, reviewing care plans, and working closely with multi-agency partners
Contributing to continuous improvement and service development across the CiC service
Requirements:
SWE Registration
Social Work qualification
Strong experience as a Team Manager or Senior Practitioner within children’s services
Excellent understanding of Children in Care legislation, care planning, and permanency pathways
Ability to adapt quickly to different teams, workflows, and management demands
Strong leadership, communication, and organisational skills
A supportive, reflective, and resilient management approach
