Team Manager | Nottingham City Council | £42 per hour

Sheldon Phillips is currently recruiting for an experienced Team Manager for Quality Assurance to join Nottingham City Council on an interim basis at £42 per hour.

This is a strong opportunity for an experienced social work professional with a solid background in quality assurance, audit, compliance, and practice improvement within children’s or adult social care settings. You’ll be joining a service that needs a manager who can lead from the front, drive standards, and turn findings into action.

Role Overview

As Team Manager within Quality Assurance, you will lead and oversee quality assurance activity across the service, ensuring social work practice is compliant, effective, and aligned with legislative and departmental standards.

You will take ownership of audit and monitoring processes, manage and develop quality assurance staff, analyse service performance, and produce clear reports and recommendations for senior management. This is a role for someone credible, organised, and confident in challenging practice where needed while helping teams improve.

Key responsibilities

  • Plan and oversee annual audit schedules, including case investigations and compliance checks relating to social work practice
  • Lead and manage a team of quality assurance staff, promoting a positive and high-performing working environment
  • Support staff development through supervision, guidance, and performance management
  • Analyse data, themes, and service trends to identify areas for improvement
  • Develop and implement action plans to address weaknesses and improve service delivery
  • Contribute to the development and review of departmental policies and procedures, ensuring alignment with current legislation
  • Engage with providers, service users, and relatives to gather feedback and support service improvement
  • Prepare detailed reports, findings, and presentations for senior management
  • Promote a culture of accountability, learning, and continuous improvement across the service

Requirements

  • A recognised Social Work qualification
  • Current Social Work England registration
  • Substantial experience as a social care practitioner, including at least 3 years’ experience and exposure to quality assurance
  • Proven management experience, including staff supervision, team leadership, and performance management
  • Thorough understanding of relevant social care legislation
  • Strong ability to interpret complex data and turn findings into practical improvement plans
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to motivate staff and embed a culture of continuous improvement
